The Tate Modern is Renowned For Its International Modern and Contemporary Art

The Tate Modern in London is a member of the art galleries of a family of four with Tate Britain, Tate Liverpool and Tate St Ives, known collectively simply as Tate. The Tate Modern is located at 53 Bankside, London SE1 9TG (telephone 020-7887-8888)


In the 90 managers acquired Tate Bankside power station damaged in Southwark, which was originally designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, and turned to the Tate Modern

The former Turbine Hall at level 1, which once housed the electricity generators of the old power station, now marks a breathtaking entrance to the Tate Modern. At the top of the building is a new glass roof two floors providing natural light into the galleries on the top floor, and also contains a charming cafe.

The modern part of the collection of Tate's previous gallery was moved here and was opened to the public in 2000 as the home of international modern art twentieth and 21st-century.

The exhibits in this gallery include major works by Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Anish Kapoor, Henri Matisse as well as contemporary artists such as Dorothy Cross, Gilbert and George and Susan Hiller.

Exhibitions Gallery houses level 2? edge contemporary art with exhibitions that run for 2 to 3 months.
Gestures materials (level 3) - that focuses on abstraction and expressionism, including work by Claude Monet, Mark Rothko and Henri Matisse.

The level 4 is used to make major temporary exhibitions for which charge an entrance fee.
Energy and process (level 5) - including work by artists such as Jannis Kounellis, Ana Mendieta and Jenny Holzer.
States flow (Level5) - including work by artists such as Pablo Picasso, Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol.

The Tate Modern also supplies views of family and school programs to encourage pupils to explore their own responses to art works and increase their understanding of British and international art.
